• Course Assignments and Evaluation
Please Note: You must achieve a final grade of at least 70% in this course in order to proceed to the Honours in Music Education program.
Also note - assignments are subject to change
1) Brief reflection of “Who am I video?” (10%)
Make a video and then upload to website–3 minute video of your interests in music, music education, who you are musically, who you want to be, etc. You can include clips from other videos, text, images – do not just have your head (lovely as it may be) floating around the screen talking. Take this opportunity to play around with creativity.
2) Movie clips: 2 movie clips or YouTube clips of teaching/learning to be posted on your website and linked to your YouTube channel. (5%)
Please look for music examples; however, one can be from a non- music context.
Along with posting the clips on your website, address the following in an interesting way:
-Why did you choose these clips? (How do they speak to you, what would you like us to take away from viewing them and thinking about them?)
-What is the context?
-Does this clip offer an example of exceptionally good or problematic teaching?
3) Peer teaching / facilitation to be done in class (3 times throughout the semester) (10%)
4) List of music apps for teaching that could be used in a music context and how you would use them (5%).
(Use your judgment as to how many you should include, but keep in mind you will upload these to your website, so theoretically you want a list other people can incorporate into their own teaching.
5) Influential teacher interview (10%)
Influential teacher interview: f2f, Skype, phone, email
Why did you choose this teacher?
6) At least 3 websites for special needs (5%)
7) Annotated bibliography 20 articles (25%)
For each reading you will write 400 words or less- you are a scholar and an intellect so don’t be lazy :). You will also have to read from the suggested bibliography to fulfill the required 20 articles. The final articles will be due December 11th with your finalized website.
DUE DATE and TIME – Sunday night 5:00 pm - Posted on OWL and your website.
What is an annotated bibliography?
Each citation of the reading is followed by a brief descriptive and evaluative paragraph - the annotation. The purpose of the annotation is to inform the reader of the relevance, accuracy, and quality of the sources cited. However, in this class the task is to address the following. These will be posted on your public website – spell check!
What was of interest to you?
What surprised you?
What frustrated you?
What would you like to say to the author and why?
8) Final podcast (15%)

The following elements are necessary:
